Alifia

Alifia —known by many as Leaf—has been practicing yoga since she was twelve years old. What began as her mother’s attempt to help her reconnect with her body blossomed into a lifelong journey of self-discovery. Over the years, Alifia has explored a variety of styles and lineages, including Vinyasa, Kundalini, Ashtanga, and Yin. In 2019, she completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in traditional Hatha.

Alongside her yoga practice, Alifia works as an elementary teacher with students from Kindergarten to Grade 9. In 2019 she did her first 200-hour teacher training at Semperviva Yoga College in Vancouver, followed by another 100-hour training with Nikki Doane who inspires Anastasiya with her deep knowledge of yogic philosophy. After having a second baby, Anastasiya did additional training in Restore Your Core Method with Lauren Ohayon as a part of her own postpartum healing journey and ever since she always incorporates deep core activation exercises into her practice and teaching. In Saskatoon, where Anastasiya used to live in the past four years, she taught regular classes at yoga studios and community associations, teaching different types of practitioners from more experienced ones to complete beginners, from little tots and high school students, to seniors and everybody in-between. She also taught Mommy and Baby Yoga and is very excited to start teaching this class again at Wild Roots. You can expect a mix of flexibility and strength building work in her classes, a focus on rebuilding the core and finding a deeper support from within, functional mobility exercises to stabilize the hips and spine, and of course lots of moments to connect with your baby and nurture your bond.
